A Word from Missy Cat about Christmas

Missy Cat Says
Please be careful when you are decorating for Christmas this year.
Did you know that cats love bright, shiny items? Your Christmas tree will be filled with them. This is how our family keeps us safe,
  • If you have a real tree, keep it watered and sweep up any needles that fall on the floor. Cats are curious. We may try to eat the needles and that is bad for us.
  • Make sure your artificial tree is secure. My friend Alice was so curious about the tree, she almost climbed in and could have pulled the tree over!
  • We LOVE napping under the tree. Please keep the lower branches empty or decorated with cat friendly ornaments. If they have shiny ribbons on them, we may accidentally swallow the ribbon.
  • Tinsel looks pretty but it too much tempting for even the smartest cat. We love to chew on tinsel and swallowing even a small piece of tinsel or ribbon can be dangerous.
  • My friend, Zippy liked chewing on cords. So Mama and Daddy sprayed the cord with something that smelled terrible so that he would leave the cord alone.  His gifts contained catnip so he knew which gifts were okay to play with. He did chew on the ribbon though until Mommy took it away.
  • If you don't want us to open the gifts under the tree, you should wait until Christmas morning to add the gifts under the tree. Otherwise, we will be tempted and the children will be disappointed.
  • Lastly, don't forget to put a gift or two sprayed with catnip under the tree for us. We love new toys too! We even have small stockings which are perfect for treats and a ping pong ball to chase!

Happy Decorating!
